Obsessed With Slash at Age 5
Bay’s love for music started early. At just five years old, the New York native became completely obsessed with Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash.
“I wanted to learn how to play, so I asked my mom for lessons,” he told the judges.
His parents said yes. From that moment on, they became his biggest supporters — or as Bay jokes, his personal roadies.
The Performance That Hyped the Entire Room
For his audition, Bay chose Lenny Kravitz’s classic “Are You Gonna Go My Way.”
What followed was pure rock energy. He played the guitar with real skill, hit the vocals cleanly, and moved around the stage like someone who had been doing this for years. The audience caught the vibe immediately. People started cheering. The energy in the room kept climbing.

Howie Mandel didn’t hold back either. “There’s no question… You are amazing, you are memorable. You’re like a rockstar.”
Sofía Vergara called him one of the coolest kids she had ever met. “You are a little mini tiny little superstar,” she said with a smile.
Simon Cowell connected with the moment on a personal level. His own son Eric had just started learning drums, and seeing Bay’s joy reminded him how special that feeling is. “You’re so good. And you’re having the best time you’ve ever had,” Cowell told him.
All four judges voted yes. Bay walked offstage to his waiting parents and host Terry Crews, who told him millions of people would soon see what he just did — a thought that clearly blew the young rocker’s mind.
